DANCE YOUR STORY
These workshops are designed for movement artists—semi-professional or professional dancers and circus performers—who wish to move toward creation. In his master class entitled “Dance Your Story”, Milan Emmanuel proposes a unique choreographic approach based on the personal stories and lived experiences of the participants.
In the first phase, he introduces a series of exercises drawn from his own artistic journey and adapted to his specific choreographic language. These exercises aim to raise participants’ awareness of stage space and presence, with a strong focus on posture and attitude, as well as on how our personal stories are embedded in our bodies and expressed on stage.
In the second phase, the objective is to weave the participants’ personal stories together in the service of a collective dramaturgy. Participants learn to interlace their narratives—sometimes through words, but mainly through movement. This approach fosters a shared awareness, transforming each individual story into a collective expression that moves from the intimate to the universal, while cultivating a strong sense of group cohesion.

Personalized Support for Research and Creation
As part of work-in-progress sessions, Milan Emmanuel supports artists in their choreographic research by offering feedback and coaching. The goal is to help them articulate their intentions as clearly as possible and to discover their own artistic singularity. Each proposal is unique, and the process focuses on exploring what makes their work distinct from others.
Participants are guided in the transition from an initial idea to its most effective expression—sometimes by simplifying, sometimes by adding new elements. This process is personal and tailored to the specific needs of each artist. These sessions often take place within work-in-progress contexts, where this approach has already been successfully implemented in several regions around the world, notably in Africa (Congo, Cameroon, Morocco), South America (Costa Rica, Brazil), as well as in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.
This personalized support aims to encourage deep and creative exploration, enabling artists to fully reveal themselves through their artistic practice.
